Julie Baum is the School Social Worker at John A. Johnson for the 2012-13 school year. This is her first year at JAJ and 15th year working for St. Paul Public Schools. Julie is licensed by the Minnesota Board of Social Work as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and by the Minnesota Department of Education as a School Social Worker. She received her BA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Julie earned her Masters of Science in Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Outside of work, Julie enjoys listening to music, baking and cooking. She also enjoys spending time with her friends exploring the Twin Cities. Julie often travels to California on school breaks to visit her family who escaped to the warm sunshine several years ago.
She moved to Minnesota in 6th grade from New Jersey. Julie remained in Minnesota until leaving to attend college in St. Louis, MO and then graduate school in Madison, WI. She returned to Minnesota after learning about all the great opportunities and programs at St. Paul Public Schools. Julie has a lifelong goal of visiting all 50 states but she still has 13 more to visit.
Julie is excited to become part of JAJ community. She is impressed with all the resources available at JAJ through the Achievement Plus partnerships. She has found JAJ staff to be very supportive and welcoming and is looking forward to working with JAJ students and families.
