An educational partnership with the School Sisters of Notre Dame

 

Provides:

  • Free one-on-one tutoring for St. Paul K-4 students who read below grade level and are unable to get help elsewhere
  • Personalized lesson plans written by licensed educators
  • 50-minute tutoring sessions three to four days per week with volunteer and professional tutors
  • Tutoring before and after school (Monday through Thursday) at John A. Johnson Achievement Plus Elementary, North End Elementary/Franklin Music Magnet, and St. Matthew’s School
  • Opportunities for parents to participate in the reading progress of their children through PACT (Parents and Children Together)

 

Student Benefits:

  • Progress toward goal of reaching appropriate reading level
  • Increased self-esteem and confidence
  • Empowered to succeed in school and society

 

Parent Benefits:

  • Involvement in tutoring sessions and home activities
  • Awareness of strategies and methods to promote reading at home
  • Establishment of home libraries through book give-aways
