Homework Expectations:
Sixth Grade students are expected to complete daily homework and read a minimum of 30 minutes each day. Students will need to complete a weekly home reading log that will be turned in at the beginning of each week. Students will record the book title and minutes read each day. The reading log needs to be signed by a parent, guardian, or older sibling each day. Book logs are checked each day by Mrs. Ross, along with daily homework.
AVID Planners:
Sixth Grade students will receive an AVID Planner and a black 3-ring binder. The AVID Program works to help students develop writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading skills in a variety of subject areas. These skills will help students' transition successfully into the academic responsibilities and coursework of middle school. Students are expected to fill out their planner each day with homework and important information. The planner is to be signed each day by a parent or guardian. The planner is a good way to communicate between home and school. If you have a problem or concern, jot a quick note in the planner. Planners are checked each day. Each student is expected to come to class each day prepared with their binder and AVID planner.
Completing daily homework, reading each day, and developing good study skills will help students succeed academically in school!
